Target metric
Interventions specified through the HIIC generate health gain through reductions in incidence rate, morbidity rate, or case-fatality rate. The target metric parameter selects which of these rates is affected by the specified intervention. Only one target metric can be specified per intervention.
Metric definitions
The table below presents definitions of target metrics available for selection.
Target metric | Definintion |
---|---|
Incidence rate | An incidence rate is the number of new cases of a disease, divided by total the susceptible population. Incidence rate = new cases of disease / total susceptible population. |
Morbidity rate | Morbidity rate, also known as the prevalent years lived with disability (PYLD) rate, refers to the rate at which a disease or illness generates loss of healthy life due to disability within a population. Morbidity (PYLD) rate = years lived with disability (YLD) rate / total population with disease. |
Case-fatality rate | Case-fatality rate refers to the number of individuals that die from a disease among all individuals diagnosed with that disease over a period of time. Case-fatality rate = deaths from disease / total population with disease. |
